Idiot. [Rolls his eyes and digs his chin against Karkat's shoulder a little.] If that's the case, I should get mad whenever you tease me since it's apparently insulting?

[ pinches Vani's nose. ]

[Crinkles his face a bit with his nose pinched. Snuffing and snorting and digging his chin harder into Karkat's shoulder, Vani tries to make him let go without lifting a hand.]

[ just squeezes more! ]

[Growls a little and reaches up to push his hand off his nose, other hand curling at Karkat's side.]

[ nope. shakes Vani's head by the nose! ]

[The growling gets louder and his fingers dig a bit, before he's tipping his head and baring those fangs, making bite motions, but not really snapping his teeth.] Leggo.

[ Karkat shakes his head. Vanitas is all air at the moment and he knows it. ]

Nah.

Let go. [Growls louder and gnashes his teeth again; still all bark with no bite though.]

[ Karkat doesn't let go, but he dislodges Vanitas off of his shoulder for a moment, to throw the guy into a headlock and start hair ruffles. ]

Awww. It's like a baby woofbeast! Barking but too tame to do shit.

[Letting out a surprised noise, he hisses and jerks, trying to squirm and pull himself away.] What, you want me to bite?!

[ nope. he's got a good hold this time. ]

Don't tempt me. [Twisting around a bit, he's still trying to slip himself free.]

[He slows, pausing, and stops struggling entirely then. The way he said it really finally hit him; that's what having a "crush" means, isn't it? Twisting a little and glancing up past the arm around his neck, Vanitas chokes out something of a sound before turning his eyes elsewhere, snuffing and ignoring the warmth spreading up into his cheeks again.

Why does his face feel warm? The feeling in general is kind of weird, now that he's got a label for it..] So?

[ Karkat is completely oblivious to Vani's revelation here. it's not really why he had said that anyway. all Karkat had wanted to do was to tease him a bit. ]

[Lets out a small growl, but he's most definitely not going to do anything. Reaching up and lightly rubbing his face, he mumbles quietly.] When did I get so soft?

[ people get funky when they're in love.

for now Karkat just releases Vanitas, snorting. ]

[Sitting up when released and cracking his neck to ease the jitters in his gut, Vanitas scooted and sat on the edge of the bed then, rolling his eyes.] When I first came here, I had Blitz' egg. I wanted to smash him as soon as he was hatched, darting around my shoulders and being such a pain. Now, here I am, rotating eggs. I couldn't even stand people touching me, even after being here a year, and now here I am just lounging on you.

I've gone soft.

[ Karkat shoves Vanitas with a foot. ]

Hoofbeast shit. I wouldn't call that soft. I'd call that normal. Look at you. In the heat of battle, you're no fucking different. You were about ready to fry Sollux if I hadn't dove into the action. Vanitas, you're just as stubborn and shit. You've just started to really develop as a person, fuckwit.

And maybe your reasons behind the violence and pissy attitude have grown too.

[Shoved, it was enough to almost knock him off the bed; he's forced to stand up to avoid hitting the floor. Frowning still, he winds up looking down, scuffing his heel on the carpet and crossing his arms.]

I didn't want him thinking he could kill you because of your blood color. I remember you saying most trolls would do it as soon as they heard. You're sensitive enough about it to even hate the color red, so even if he was making it as an insult and didn't know, he deserved to get his ass kicked. [Really, the memory alone has him growling again, eyes narrowed.]

Sollux is a mutant, you know. The only difference is that his mutation is a more acceptible one.

Still didn't want him thinking he could kill you or insult on something that makes you hate yourself. [Turns his head away as if that's final.]

We insult each other all of the fucking time. It's not like he really knew it'd be hurtful.
