Here's a question for all of you who like to answer such things. It's completely mundane and has no deep meaning, so don't fucking look for any. Just listen to the question, answer it, and move along without dwelling too much ( read: AT ALL ) on what's behind it. Because there's nothing. Got it? Okay, great.

Where is your favorite location in this shithole and why.

Now go.

...A bit difficult to get used to, I will admit. In order to get anywhere within the ruins, you have to solve fairly simple puzzles, which, unfortunately, lead to the the floor opening up underneath you. If you're not expecting it, it will certainly catch you off guard.

Personally, I consider it worth it. There are inscriptions in a font resembling a highly stylized version of English in there. The majority of the Pokemon there that I find interesting seem to match up to those letters, which has interesting implications.

The easiest conclusion to draw from this is that the text is based on the Pokemon themselves; however, that doesn't really match up to how languages and alphabets evolve. It's a much more complex process than that, and the fact that it matches up perfectly to English letters and words rather than being something far more difficult to translate is very odd.

So what's the history of this shithole?

Are you talking about the ruins, or the entire world? Either way, I honestly couldn't tell you much. Most of the history in this world that actually seems to be compiled is legend-which isn't as big of a problem as it seems, but it is still a problem nonetheless.

The ruins, dude. I realize that this place is all littered with legend and fables. Geez.

It's a completely stupid way to record history.
enjoymyatelier: zach. they're here. (migrane's a comin.)

...You weren't terribly specific.

Anyway, the biggest clue we have to the ruins' history is the following inscription:

[annnd he'll switch to text for a moment!]

Our words shall remain here for the ages,
Thus we shall erect a Pokémon statue outside.
They possess great insight and refuse the outside world.
We humans must learn to walk in harmony with them. We depart for their sakes.

Oh fuck you. Considering how there are all these legendary beasts that should exist, for all we know it could have been a civilization of Pokémon. Hell, maybe it was even the Unknown themselves.
