Here's a question for all of you who like to answer such things. It's completely mundane and has no deep meaning, so don't fucking look for any. Just listen to the question, answer it, and move along without dwelling too much ( read: AT ALL ) on what's behind it. Because there's nothing. Got it? Okay, great.

Where is your favorite location in this shithole and why.

Now go.

Mm, it seems to me a city of more substance than Cherrygrove and less [umm] chaos than Goldenrod. And the nearby ruins are fascinating.

You'd rather explore ruins than something like a volcano?
grapecape: (insert irrelevant factoid here)

I would like to see a volcano at some point, but if the option were for a repeat trip I'd prefer the ruins.

Is it a culture thing?
grapecape: (good morning)

That and relative risk of personal harm. But yes, I'm very interested in the cultures of this world and all they've produced.

What is there in those goddamn ruins? All I heard was some random lettering and beasts that look like the letters.
grapecape: (I BRING GREAT NEWS)

That in and of itself is very interesting. [run karkat save yourself] Is it the Pokemon that resemble the lettering, or the lettering that resembles the Pokemon? If the former, then what process gave them those shapes? Such an origin story could only be an exceptional one. And if the latter, then might their presence in the area predate the civilization that built what are now the Ruins of Alph? Why were these Pokemon so significant to the humans that they would style their writing system after them? Letting mysteries like that go unexplored wouldn't sit right with me.

[YOU ASKED]

What do the original researchers think?
grapecape: (sighs)

They do a lot of asking questions, but not a lot of answering them.

[NPCs, man]

Most of their information is simply on the abilities of the Unown, which is interesting in its own right but only part of what I want to explore.

Guess who isn't surprised...

I wonder if there's a way to communicate more meaningfully with them. Whatever affliction causes the locals to act like this...I'd like to know how deep it runs.

[he feels really bad just letting them do their NPC thing]
