This is a little late coming, but I've had shit to do before I could sit here and brag.

[ which means, of course, Karkat is showing off his shiny badge. ]

One elite battle down, six more to fucking go. And I will do it.

I know there are people out there that have completed both the Johto and the Kanto circuit, so I've got to know: what comes after? Am I going to be bored out of my goddamn think pan or should I just be content to plant my ass somewhere?

If we can't challenge the Elite four and champion right away, I wouldn't mind staying in one place for a change. I'm used to traveling, but.. [It'd be something to experience.]

[The blank look he's giving Karkat indicates that no, he doesn't realize how it sounds.]

Ever gave any thought about us physically going our separate ways?

[His expression quiets, but he simply shakes his head, leaning back and away then, so he's no longer hovering over Karkat's shoulder.] Not really.

[ Karkat reaches for the other with a grunt, yanking him back. ]

Most couples aren't around each other all the time like we are. Just pointing that out, it's not a suggestion for space.

[Vanitas nearly stumbles right back into his shoulder with the yank, but he's snuffing quietly.] You made it sound like I shouldn't just assume it. [Slinks his arm around Karkat's shoulders and into a half hug, his hand resting beneath his chin where he's setting it down again.]

Sharing space while traveling and living together are completely different.

Are they really that different?

Traveling is convenience. Living together without the intention of moving around is, like, settling down. One is far more intimate than the other.

[Snuffs a soft breath through his nose and lowers his eyes, before closing them in thought. Would it really be that bad to settle down? He was told it was strange since he's young, but he hardly feels all that "young". Squeezing his arm in that half hug again, Vanitas slips it away and stands properly.]

It'd be your choice if you wanted to or not, then.

[ see these. these are grabby hands. ]

[Grunts, but Vanitas moves and catches those grabby hands, standing in reach.]

I like you, dumbass. Don't you even dare start to question that. We've already been traveling together for a quarter of a year, more or less. You took care of me and I have been watching out for you.

Do you really think I'd have a problem with it?

Besides... It's not like you're even capable of properly looking after yourself without me.

I'm not questioning that you like me, or that you have a problem traveling with me. You were saying that traveling and living together are different, so. [Huffs, lifting those hands to bump his nose on Karkat's knuckles before snorting.] I can look after myself, idiot, you're the one who just doesn't like my methods. [But he's half hiding a smile behind those hands.]

They are different. It's something you need to acknowledge as a person. You need to realize the significance of pretty much asking someone to be a permanent and committed fixture in your life.

[ squeezes those hands and nudges. ]

Just ask any fuckwit out there.

I've already thought of you as a permanent fixture in my life, even while moving around. I'm not ignoring the chance that you could be taken away, but I'm not going to let it stop me.

You're goddamn innocence is going to be the death of me.

[Huffs, leaning down to tuck his nose into Karkat's hair in a half nuzzle.]

[ aaaand pulling Vanitas down, oh yes. ]

[And down he comes!]

[Once they're settled, Vanitas is just letting out a laugh, reaching to ruffle Karkat's hair.]
