They did not always explain the things they said, of course, but I was in no position to ask for answers, given I didn't much care at the time. But I always knew the order we'd enter in, and why we had to do so in that order.

Yes! I conversed with my doomed counterparts regularly. There were many timelines in which we failed miserably, and which required me to go back and fix something. By "me" I mean my counterparts, as the act of fixing a timeline of course doomed the me who did so.

I'm still not sure if that was a step up from the general voices of the dead or not, really.
